Welcome New Ascend GW Committee VPs
The Ascend Greater Washington Chapter is pleased to announce the appointment of seven new committee VPs to start in our 2016-2017 fiscal year as of July 1. The staff and current board of the GW Chapter of Ascend welcome the new board members and thank the outgoing committee VPs for their contributions and leadership in advancing the chapter.

Brian Kelly joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President – Corporate Executive Initiative. Brian brings over 25 years of experience in IT, HR, Project Management, Program Management, Business Management, People Development, and Nonprofit Leadership. Brian currently serves as President of Brian Kelly Leadership Coaching, and is a Faculty Coach and Business Development Partner at Strengths Strategy. Brian is committed to building a pipeline of diverse leaders because this produces better human results, and therefore better business results. He works with leaders, professionals, teams, and organizations to improve their performance, energy, and relationships through strengths-centered human development programs. Brian is a Strengths Strategy Certified Coach and is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Leadership Coaching Program (both ICF Accredited Coaching Certifications). Brian earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Boston College.

Zach Heng joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Marketing. Zach brings over 9 years of technology and management experience. He started his career in health informatics as a Systems Analyst for the Florida Department of Health. After spending a few years with the state government, Zach then joined Accenture in the commercial consulting practice supporting delivery teams for Fortune 500 clients for a little over two years before returning to his roots in the Greater Washington area and joining Deloitte’s Federal Technology Consulting practice. After two and a half years with Deloitte, he accepted an opportunity with a small digital consulting agency to lead delivery teams in Digital Strategy, UI/UX Design and Web Analytics. Most recently, Zach has decided to return to Federal Government consulting as a Manager with Booz Allen Hamilton. Zach holds a B.S. in Information Technology from Florida State University.

Christian Nielsen joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Marketing. Christian brings over 16 years of experience in sales and marketing and management consulting and is currently positioned in Boeing’s Corporate Leadership Development rotation program. During his time at Boeing, Christian has held various marketing positions focused on the sales of Boeing Defense products and services. His responsibilities have included supporting market strategy development, go-to-market planning, development of marketing print and digital collateral, customer engagement and trade shows in support of Boeing Defense marketing campaigns. Prior to joining Boeing, Christian led a distinguished career in the consulting industry where he supported a broad portfolio of domestic and international clients in defining and executing strategic business transformation, optimizing organizational business processes, and implementing technology solutions. Christian holds an MBA from Virginia Tech’s Pamplin School of Business, a B.S. in Business Administration from George Mason University and an Advanced Certificate in Marketing from Georgetown University. Additionally, he is Project Management Professional (PMP)-certified and is an active member of the American Marketing Association (AMA)-DC Chapter where he serves as a marketing consultant for a variety of local DC-based non-profit organizations.

Alice Yeh joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Community Outreach. Having graduated a semester early from the College of William and Mary as an accounting major with a marketing concentration and minor in Mathematics, Alice conducted accounting research at the College with multiple professors. In the following year, she completed the Masters of Accounting program at University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce and started her career in federal auditing at KPMG.

Lucas Wang joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Membership. Lucas brings over 16 years of experience as an IT strategy and architecture professional and currently serves as a senior enterprise architect with a focus in business strategy and transformation. He has distinguished himself as a leader in supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives and brings a passion to mentoring and coaching the next generation of Pan-Asian leaders. Lucas serves as a board member of the GW Asian Business Resource Group at Deloitte and coaches at Deloitte University’s Technology Consulting Program, and Ascend’s Consulting Bootcamp. Lucas holds a B.S. from James Madison University.

Ihita Kabir joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Professional Development. She is a Manager in PwC’s Advisory National Risk & Quality team. She has a decade of procurement experience, & is currently specializing in Public Sector International Contracts, with a focus on PwC’s USAID, DOS, MCC, Peace Corps, WBG, & UN accounts. She is a University of Maryland graduate (Bachelor’s in Economics, minor in French Language & Literature), a GWU Certified Government Contracts Manager, & a Certified Schedules Contracts Manager. Ihita is dedicated to strengthening the presence & collective voice of the Pan-Asian professional, & has raised her hand to be a leader of diversity initiatives at every opportunity. She serves as a strategic advisor to PwC’s Asian Inclusion Network, helping drive the firm’s diversity & inclusion strategy.

Ameer Ali joins the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter as the co-Vice President of Professional Development. Ameer brings over 20 years of diverse experience across marketing, advertising, solution delivery, and program management. He started his career in marketing with a transnational corporation in India, and then after scratching his itch for advertising, got into process re-engineering and solution delivery for global corporations in the US. After five plus years with the Panasonic Corporation of North America, Ameer joined Accenture’s Supply Chain Practice in 2005. Since then, he has developed and delivered Supply Chain solutions for major brands in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry, progressively increasing his levels of responsibility. In 2010, Ameer started working with Accenture’s US Federal practice, and currently serves as the Supply Chain Leader for Accenture’s work with select US Govt. agencies and multilateral non-profit organizations. Ameer is an active mentor and coach for up-and-coming consultants at Accenture, helping people think through career and life choices, as well as increasing self-awareness and “big-picture-consciousness.” Additionally, Ameer is a passionate volunteer with The Best Buddies organization, helping kids with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
