Ascend GW & Delta Success
In July 2017, Ascend GW’s Community Outreach committee took steps towards a new volunteering avenue, beginning with support of the Delta Success Program. The Delta Success program is a global program created by AASuccess, a non-profit organization established in 2006, to encourage anyone interested in giving back, especially to the youth in Asia. It is a mentoring program for students between 6th and 12th-grade that currently reside in Vietnam and China. Each session consists of 10-week program where mentors are matched to one or two students. On a weekly basis, the mentor and students will connect via Skype/Google Hangout or QQ. The purpose is mainly to help the students practice and improve their English. However, the program gears the conversation topics to help develop the student’s self-esteem and self-awareness. The end goal is to empower the student to achieve their true potential through the supporting and trusted relationship between the mentor and the student.
With an overwhelming amount interest to volunteer for the 2017 Summer Session, the Community Outreach committee would like to highlight and thank the following volunteers for their contributions and continued support.
- DJ Jung, Advisory Senior Associate, Ernst & Young
- Aimee Liu, Advisory Associate, Grant Thornton
- Yubo Jia, Tax Associate, Ernst & Young
- Hang Bui, Assurance Senior Associate, PricewaterhouseCoopers
