Corporate Executive Initiative – Yoko Jolly & Brian Kelly
The Corporate Executive Initiative (CEI) has 3 over-arching objectives: (1) Increase the pipeline for Pan Asian Leaders; (2) Promote thought leadership; (3) Build the Pan Asian executive network.
- Obj 1: Harness the passion and imagination of Pan-Asian senior executives to provide stewardship in developing the next generation of Pan-Asian leaders, both in ASCEND and in their own organizations
- Obj 2: Engage Pan-Asian senior executives in thoughtful and meaningful dialogue on subjects of relevance to their careers, passions, and aspirations, especially related to the Pan-Asian community
- Obj 3: Provide a convenient, enjoyable, and engaging environment for Pan-Asian senior executives to exchange ideas, expand their networks, and develop personal and professional relationships with peers in the Pan-Asian professional community
CEI’s most recent achievement is piloting the first cohort of the 4-month Corporate Executive Leadership Program (CELP) which concluded on January 9, 2017. This cohort was an engaged, curious, and committed group of senior leaders who will now take these lessons to apply within their organizations and throughout the Pan Asian community. This is an important milestone for Ascend GW and the Corporate Executive Initiative as we build upon the program to become one of the chapter’s flagship offerings to develop more Pan Asian leaders and executives. This program could not have been possible without the support of Accenture and Ascend National for their sponsorship of CELP. Many thanks to the Ascend GW CEI Executives for their leadership and continued support and to the CELP Volunteer Support Team for their hard work, dedication, and leadership in making CELP v1.0 a huge success we can all celebrate. We look forward to bringing the next CELP offering later this year.
5th Annual IAG Conference
(Nov 12, 2017) Ascend GW’s 5th Annual “Inspiring Across Generations” had record-breaking attendance hosting nearly 250 professionals and students from public and private sectors to share knowledge and experiences towards a common goal: enhance careers, develop personally and professionally, and cultivate relationships in the Pan-Asian business community. None of it could have been possible without the support from our incredible sponsors.
In celebration of Veteran’s Day, we were honored to have keynote speakers who served in our armed forces — General Linda Singh (Retired Managing Director, Accenture) and Captain Young Bang (Senior Vice President, Booz Allen Hamilton).

LNY Celebrations with DC’s AAPI Community

2nd Annual Consulting Boot Camp
From January 28th to February 4th, the Ascend Greater Washington Chapter held the 2nd Annual Consulting Boot Camp sponsored by Booz Allen Hamilton. Held at the University of Maryland College Park, 48 students from the University of Maryland, George Washington University, American University, George Mason University, Johns Hopkins University, New York University and Rutgers University participated in a case study competition designed to test the students ability to apply common consulting skills like extract insights, collaborate in teams, and deliver client-ready presentations. During the program, professional volunteers from Booz Allen Hamilton, KPMG, Deloitte and PwC served as coaches and actively taught their students about teamwork, research, storyboarding, data visualization, interviewing clients, and public speaking. Directors from Accenture, Freddie Mac, and Booz Allen Hamilton role-played as the client and voted for the best team for a cash prize of $500 and 3-year memberships to Ascend.
